Am I using the best type of foundation for my skin type?????

On my quest to find the best foundation for me, I asked myself the question, "What is the best recommendation for my clients when it comes to foundation" and "what would I recommend for the various skin types"? So I did a little research to find the difference in cream foundations and liquid foundations.

Cream and liquid foundations may have the same final result - to provide a woman's face with a clean, even, and beautiful look, but their application components are very different.

Liquid foundations
Liquid foundations provide a very smooth, clean finish. Most of them include skin moisturizing ingredients that provide nutrients for your skin, and feel very smooth upon application.Liquid foundations, with lubricants, are especially made for women with dry skin.A semi-liquid foundation works best for combination skins.

Cream Foundations
If your face absorbs the foundation too quickly, and you find yourself needing to reapply your makeup once or twice more per day, you probably have dry skin and need to switch to a cream foundation.A silk cream foundation will provide additional moisture to soothe and even out your tones.
Most cream foundations come in stick or compact. They are a wonderful foundation to use against the elements by providing protection, and sealing to the skin against sun, wind and cold.

For women of color, I've found that these lines offer the best foundations (my opinion):

Iman Cosmetics (sold at target), Black Opal Cosmetics (www.blackopalbeauty.com), M.A.C Cosmetics (www.maccosmetics.com), Black Radiance Cosmetics (sold at your local hair/cosmetic supply store), Bobbi Brown Cosmetics (http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/). SmashBox Cosmetics (www.smashbox.com)

For women not of color (I don't know the term that is politically correct! lol):

Max Factor Cosmetics (please google MF Pan-Stick), Makeup Forever (www.sephora.com), M.A.C Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Smashbox Cosmetics (www.smashbox.com)

Revlon?? Haute or Not!!!!

Hello KK Followers!

I want to start off today with a review of my favorite brow pencil!!!! Okay, I know people say a pencil is a pencil is a pencil! IT IS NOT TRUE!!!! Every pencil will not render the same results. Just to put that theory to the test, i used another pencil this morning.

NYX Brow Pencil in Dark Brown
It seems to be a great pencil but it is much thicker than my ultimate fave tool. I ended up going back over brows with the other pencil, and let's just say, i wasn't too pleased with the results.

So on to my fave pencil!!!!!!

M.A.C Self-Propelling Brow Pencil in Spiked (or Stud for darker brownish/black finish)

The precision and pigment on this pencil is spectacular! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!. It runs you about $15 but it is worth the splurge. I have been trying my best to find a pencil with the same precision that will create the same result but everything I've tried is coming up short!!!!! A must have for your brows! I use pencil vs. powder because i can determine where the product goes and how dark or light i want to make it.

Revlon PhotoReady Foundation-

Love the foundation for the spring/summer months. It has builadable coverage but leaves a glowy dewey finish (NOT MATTE). If you have dry skin, i really recommend this product. If you have more oily/combo skin, not the product for you! You'd be like a shine magnet! You can find this where ever drug store cosmetics are sold and it will run you about $13-$15.

Pros: buildable coverage, dewey finish, inexpensive, pump added to bottle.

Cons: Not for oily/combination skin, color spectrum is limited. Not many for deeper tones

Revlon Photo Ready Finishing Powder

Okay, I absolutely love this product. It is very extremely similar to M.A.C's Select Sheer Pressed Powder. A great powder for a matte finish. Extremely long wear (I've worn it for about 16 hours and makeup still looked fresh). This is priced from $13-$18, depending on where you shop.

Pros: Light sheer coverage, matte finish, inexpensive.

Cons: If you want full coverage, not the product to buy

Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation

Highly recommended (M.A.C Dupe)! Medium to Full coverage. It has a very matte finish. It comes in two formulas (Dry/Regular Skin or Oily/Combination Skin). The formulas and colors cover mostly everyone. It has long lasting wearability. Very very similar to M.A.C Studio Fix foundation. Great price!!!!!

Pros: Full coverage, color spectrum is larger, covers all skin types

Cons: Doesn't come with pump and M.A.C pump doesn't fit it.

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Mousse Foundation

This is my favorite product of the lot. It has buildable coverage. It's a super lightweight formula. It lasts for 16+ hours! A fantastic buy. The only downside to this product is it totally dries my skin out which isn't normal because I have oily skin. I usually use a primer with all my foundations but with this product I can't apply any type of primer. I mix it with my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and it gives a little moisture to the product and it helps me to apply it more evenly and smoothly.

If you have any questions on any of the products listed or want more information on how to apply, leave a comment and I will respond accordingly.

Pricey and New doesn't equal best!

Good Morning All!!!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I wanna first show off my new look!!!! I've lightened my hair for the summer and since i'm going au naturale, I am rocking curly hair until my relaxer grows completely out.

This is the new me!!!!

HOPE YOU LIKE IT!!!!! :)

Okay now to the topic at hand!!!

Everyone is always looking for a great makeup remover. Every makeup and skin care line has some type of remover or remover wipes available. I have tried mostly all of them (because I like to blow money on products! lol). But my all time favorite and what I use the most was a handed down tip from my grandmother!

PONDS COLD CREAM!!!!!!

You can get this stuff from almost anywhere that sales skin care. Wal-Greens or CVS sales it for about $5. Very inexpensive.

What does it do? The classic rich cream deep cleans down to the pores to remove even the most stubborn make-up and impurities, while leaving skin soft and smooth (taken from the website).

The reason I love it is because it totally takes off all your makeup, including stubborn eye-liner and mascara while it conditions skin.

How to use it: Rub product into skin, take a paper towel and wipe makeup and product completely off. I also recommend washing your face afterwards with your favorite cleanser.

Of course there are other makeup removers out there that work awesome. To name a few, Neutrogena towelettes, M.A.C towelettes, Target brand towelettes (all work great).

Okay, I was at JoAnn Fabrics this weekend (not even going there for me) and I happened upon this neat caddy!!!!! I use it for my brushes and other tools. Not for transport but for household organization. Plus i think it's really cute. Very multi-functional and I absolutely love the colors. It's actually a scrap booking caddy but of course, I'm using it for another purpose. Check out the pics!

If you are interested in this product: You can either visit your nearest JoAnn Fabrics or visit them online:
