Le Marché Couvert Saint Quentin

Le Marché Couvert Saint Quentin

One of the oldest covered market in Paris
features Baltard style glass and ironwork with high ceilings
and an expanse of windows.

These architectural details permit
much natural light and great ventilation.

Église Saint-Roch

Église Saint Roch

This late Baroque church is filled with art,
stunning architecture, a storied past, and
three magnificent organs.

The Marquis de Sade was married (!) here in 1763,
and Yves Saint Laurent's funeral brought over 1,000 people
 to this church in 2008.

My friend Peter Olsen (Peter's Paris blog) provided
many interesting photos and facts which you can find here.

Chez Gladines - cuisine Basque à Paris

Chez Gladines

This charming bistrot serves reasonably-priced Basque cuisine.
I first "discovered" Chez Gladines, the original restaurant,
on rue des Cinq Diamants in the 13ème.  The food is simple, but delicious.
Be sure to select a dessert while I whisper in your ear....
(crème caramel -or- mi-cuit au chocolat et Piment d'Espelette ).

This lively scene is on Boulevard Saint Germain and
the warm September evening filled all the tables,
 inside and on the terrace.

Quai de Conti

Les Bouquinistes

Very near the Left Bank entrance to Pont des Arts
the bouquinistes kept their stands open
even in the steady rain.
